Security Oriented Browser Extensions

There are many web browser extensions that are security focused and can help protect your online privacy and security. Some of the best ones that I have found and use are listed below.

uBlock Origin

This is a free, open-source ad-blocker that blocks ads and trackers on websites, helping to protect your privacy and security.

HTTPS Everywhere

This is a free extension developed by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) that ensures that you are using a secure HTTPS connection whenever possible.

HTTPS Everywhere is no longer needed in most modern browsers since they have implemented HTTPS connections by default. You can check out an updated post from EFF explaining why HTTPs is no longer needed in their blog post.

Privacy Badger

Also developed by the EFF, this extension blocks third-party trackers and cookies that can be used to track your online behavior and collect data about you.

Ad Block Plus

Ad Block Plus is a helpful security extension that blocks ads as you browse the web. There is confusion between the ad block vs ad block plus situation. I found that ad block plus is almost identical as ad block but is more user friendly by showing the trackers that are being blocked. Both of the extensions are owned by the same company.

NordPass

This is a password manager that helps you generate and store secure passwords for your online accounts, so you don't have to remember them.
